Marching to the sound of drums, the PHS class of 2025 began their last year of high school by parading into the building. Other students were greeted by chalk art drawn by the seniors, which adorned the main entrance to the building.

Casimir Heinritz, Photography Editor
Casey Heinritz is a senior at Palatine High School. Besides writing and taking photos for Cutlass, Heinritz is a tennis player and yearbook photographer. Some of Heinritz’s favorite activities are biking, walking his dogs, and cooking. His favorite dish to make is soft tacos. In the future, Heinritz wants to be an electrician. He’s currently taking electronics at PHS.

Grace Wang, Features Editor
Grace Wang is a senior at Palatine High School. Along with being the Features Editor of Cutlass, Wang also is the Editor-in-Chief for Spotlight, 1 Doubles for Girls Varsity Tennis, and captain of the Scholastic Bowl team. Wang spends too much time at school, but in her free time she likes to binge movies, listen to Fleetwood Mac, and cozy up with a book. After high school, Wang is pursuing journalism and design at Northwestern University.

Karim Melek, Editor-in-Chief
Karim Melek is a senior at Palatine High School and the Editor-in-Chief of Cutlass. He serves as a student leader for the SPLC’s New Voices program, advocating for student press freedom and adviser protections. Melek was named to the Illinois Journalism Education Association’s All-State Team. Beyond journalism, he is the founder and Secretary-General of Palatine’s Model UN team, a member of the debate team, and competes in water polo and swimming. He is also interested in researching and preserving the history of Cutlass, which spans more than 100 years. In addition, he volunteers with the Palatine Historical Society, where he helps archive and preserve historic records. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He plans to pursue a career in law and/or journalism.
