Alessandra Mireles, Reporter
Alessandra Mireles is a junior at Palatine High School. This is her third year at Cutlass and as a reporter. She is involved with Science Olympiad, the Foreign Exchange Club, and the Mariachi Club. Her favorite after-school activities are drawing, playing guitar, and listening to music. Mireles aims to major in marine biology and learn to speak another language in the future.

Sam Gonzales, Reporter
Sam Gonzales is a sophomore at Palatine High School. This is her first year as a reporter for Cutlass. She is an avid reader and music fan and enjoys many diverse interests in and outside of school, such as designing clothing, being around all things cars, and writing.

Cameron Smith, Reporter
Cam Smith is a junior at Palatine High School. Along with joining cutlass, Smith is involved in lacrosse, service club and best buddies. His hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, taking care of his dog, watching tv and movies and writing. Smith wants to pursue a career in Psychology.

Keira Schmidt is a freshman at Palatine High School. She likes many types of photography. Keira loves to play volleyball and hangs out with friends.

Fiona Storey, Reporter
Fiona Storey is a very creative and intelligent sophomore here at PHS. She plays for PHS tennis, enjoys playing the piano, and seeks to pursue a career in Aviation. In her free time, the likes going on walks, drawing, fashion, playing video games, and writing (of course).

Sohum Gorladku, Reporter
Sohum Gorladku is a sophomore at Palatine High School. Gorladku is actively involved in several extracurricular activities, including Business Professionals of America, Math Team, and competing in both cross country and track. Outside of school, Gorladku enjoys spending time with friends and family. Gorladku has a strong passion for business, finance, and entrepreneurship and aspires to continue his studies at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Grace Wang, Features Editor
Grace Wang is a senior at Palatine High School. Along with being the Features Editor of Cutlass, Wang also is the Editor-in-Chief for Spotlight, 1 Doubles for Girls Varsity Tennis, and captain of the Scholastic Bowl team. Wang spends too much time at school, but in her free time she likes to binge movies, listen to Fleetwood Mac, and cozy up with a book. After high school, Wang is pursuing journalism and design at Northwestern University.

Karim Melek, Editor-in-Chief
Karim Melek is a junior at Palatine High School. Along with being the Editor-in-Chief of Cutlass, Melek is involved in many activities, including being the Secretary-General of Model UN, a member of the debate team, and competing in water polo and swimming. Melek has a strong passion for free speech advocacy and serves as a student leader for the SPLC’s New Voices program, which protects student journalists. Outside of his busy schedule, Melek enjoys spending time with family and friends. He hopes to pursue law in the future.
