With the 150th year of Palatine High School here, staff and students join together to make an unforgettable spirit week and events happen throughout the upcoming days; from a new spin on the Royal Rally to the homecoming parade returning, this year will be different.
“We have so much planned this year,” Principal Tony Medina said. “We are going back to our roots and having a parade through the neighborhoods nearest to the high school, we are having our Royal Rally outdoors, and something new this year will be our first-ever girls flag football homecoming game.”
This year will be the return of the homecoming parade; on September 18th at 5 pm, students and teachers will be walking around the neighborhood as they perform live music. This tradition has been put aside for a couple of years and the 150th year celebrates the return of many traditions.
However, the school is not only returning back to old events but also implementing new ones and mixing up current ones as well. This year will be the start of girls’ football also getting their own homecoming game, creating more events that Palatine students can attend. The Royal Rally will not only be hosted after school and outside but will also welcome alumni to come and celebrate Palatine High School’s 150th anniversary.
“I hope students feel excited,” Principal Medina said. “I want them to know how important Palatine HS has been to not just our current students but also our graduates, our former teachers, and our community!”
Palatine High School Spirit Week and events have a lot in store, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday being the days when most after-school traditions will be hosted.
