Alessia Cara entrances in Chicago
October 11, 2016
Alessia Cara headlined a concert with Ruth B and Nathan Skyes at Chicago Theatre on Oct. 7.
The lights toned down as the band started to play her music with Cara’s symbol on the screen. She came on the stage and start performing her song, “I’m Yours.”
Cara was covered in purple like the stars that came from the lights. Most of the audience cheered and sang along. When she finished the song, the lights dropped and she told the audience a little about herself. About that she is from Canada and never imagined that she would make out of her town. She couldn’t have thought she would become the mega pop star she is today.
She sang a couple other songs mostly about opening oneself up to love for first or even for the millionth time. She sang about the roller coasters that you ride when you are in love.
As she sang a song about stars and love, the audience took out their camera flashlights and everyone start to wave their phones. She brought out her songwriter to sing the song with her. The audience could see how thankful she was to him for her success and amazing songs.
Nathan Sykes, formerly a part of the British-Irish boy band, The Wanted, performed first. They had a reality show in which they performed in front of first family in the White House. The band has been on a break for the past two years. Sykes didn’t let their break stop him from becoming a successful solo singer.
The 23 year old English singer and songwriter was very charming on the stage with the audience. His songs were romantic and made the girls in audience who were already falling for his British accent and his soulful voice fall even more for him, particularly with his song “Famous.”
Next was the young Canadian singer, Ruth B in which she performed her most talked
about song, “Lost Boy.” She started singing songs Vine in early 2013.
She created a line which was inspired by the ABC show Once Upon A Time. She signed with Columbia Records in July of 2015. Her debut album, The Intro, was released in November later that same year.
The audience knew most of the words to her famous song, “Lost Boy.” She performed a song that was about meeting a boy in a elevator, “In my Dreams.” The song is relatable to everybody who has ever experienced a crush on someone whose name you don’t even know. All of her songs were like a fairy tale and romantic.
