Palatine versus Niles Notre Dame preview
October 28, 2016
The first playoff game for Palatine will be at home against the Notre Dame Dons from Niles, IL. It will be a classic battle between the third ranked Pirates and the thirtieth ranked Dons for the first round of IHSA 8A playoffs. Kickoff will be at Chic Anderson Stadium st 2:00 PM on Saturday Oct 29.
The Pirates will bring a high-scoring offense led by Zach Oles and company. The previous all-state quarterback is proving to be one of the best QBs in the state. During the regular season, opponents struggled to stop the passing game of the Pirates. Jack Grochowski and Johnny O’Shea are two D1 talent wideouts that can ruin any defensive back’s night. On top of that, the Pirates run game led by Josh Turner and Courtland Cornelius will serve as a threat. The offensive line continues to man handle defenses, making it easier for all other skilled players.
One of the best defenses in the state belongs to the Pirates. Niles Notre Dame might struggle with their run game against a defensive line and linebacker squad that shut down Barrington, one the best running teams during the regular season. The passing game for the Dons won’t be any easier either. The Pirates cornerbacks and safeties shut down the Stevenson wideouts who some scouts say are the best offensively in the state. Fans should keep an eye on #31 Dylan Tapia and #6 Mackenzie Balanganyi who always seem to be making big time plays.
It’s playoffs anything can happen. The Pirates will be ready, but so will the Dons. Come watch the third ranked Pirates play their first playoff game.
