On Friday, Dec. 13, Palatine High School competed in swimming and diving against Schaumburg High School at PHS.

The swimmers and divers had phenomenal scores in all events. The teams won almost every event against SHS. However, these scores do not come with easy work. The teams train six days a week on a variety of things in and out of the water.

“We do a variety for drills to focus on technique as well as general endurance,” explained Coach Mroz. “The team also works on specialty stokes and events.”

During the meets, the teams motivate each other to do the best they can.

“They like to challenge and support each other,” Coach Mroz, the Boys Swim team coach, said. “I feel like the team enjoys winning and dropping time.”

Christian Snyder broke the PHS pool record in the 100 Fly and Trey Wilcox broke the PHS pool record in the 6-Dive. In the 100 Breastroke, Kevin Ehrenstrom dropped 5 seconds. As well, Coach Mroz would like to recognize Mike Ingebritson for his season so far in the spring freestyle event.

The next meet for the Swim and Dive team is Friday, Jan. 10, at 4:45 P.M. against Conant High School at PHS.
