The Palatine High School Special Education Department will be hosting Cupcakes for a Cause on March 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the PHS cafeteria.

Admission to Cupcakes for a Cause is free and open to the public. Cupcakes are for sale at $2 each, or $20 per dozen. Included in the event are raffles and a cupcake judging contest.

Dawn Shepard, the event chairperson, said Cupcakes for a Cause rallies in considerable funds, which help finance PHS Special Education clubs and activities such as the Special Olympics, Best Buddies, PAC Club, PEP Squad, LLS, SCED, and ELS Families in Crisis.

“We also make a donation to a local organization that assists our students,” Shepard said. “This year we are donating to NWSRA (Northwest Special Recreation Association).”

Bakers can donate cupcakes to the event by registering on this website. They can also contact the special education department. All cupcakes can be entered into one of three categories: most creative, best decorated, or best PHS-themed.

Students interested in donating can turn in their cupcakes to their homerooms; the homeroom that turns in the most cupcakes, regardless of whether they’re homemade or store bought, will win donuts!

Students should bring their cupcakes to Room 127 this Friday (March 9) any time after 7 am until 2nd period. Make sure you know at least of one of your Homeroom teachers and/or the room number!

This event is a fun opportunity for any and all interested students to give back to the community. Even if you are unable to donate cupcakes, stop by and buy some instead!
