Palatine High School hosted the girl’s gymnastics meet Saturday, January 17 and 18, which concluded the girls season.

Junior Abby Amato and senior Kara Ure competed at state after qualifying at the sectionals meet. Abby qualified for all-around, bars and beam and Ure qualified for floor.

Kara was also selected to attend Senior Nationals to represent Illinois High School Gymnastics in Ft. Myers, Florida this upcoming May.

“I am happy that all of [Kara’s] hard work and dedication paid off,” sophomore Kristen Ure, Kara’s sister, said.

At IHSA Sectionals, the team scored a 140.20 with their second highest score of their competition season.

“We had a great season,” varsity head coach Terry Theobald said. “Abby got 5th place qualifying at sectionals and Kara made it 12th place at large.”

Throughout the season, the Palatine girls had six meet wins and two losses. The invites are four wins and one loss.
