Fresh off of a brutal 2 point loss to Conant on the road, the girls basketball team got right back to it, coming out stronger than ever against Fremd on their home court last tuesday. Their effort and play was rewarded with a game-winning shot from senior Kendra Lindell in the waning seconds of the contest to propel the Pirates to an amazing 43-42 victory over the Vikings on their senior night.

“It was such an unbelievable finish for our senior night, I’m really proud of how we played, we stayed focused even when it got tough out there,” said senior Kacie Filian.

And as if one wasn’t enough, the very next game senior Anja Jacobsen drained a three pointer from 20-feet out to win it 35-32 for Palatine, giving her team sole possession of the lead in the Mid-Suburban West at 18-6 overall.

The wins have just kept piling up for the Pirates, adding up to a four game winning streak following a 32-28 overtime victory against Stevenson and a 46-28 blowout at Schaumburg. Seniors Sydney Rzepka and Sarah Jasonowicz led Palatine in scoring against Schaumburg, with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Pirates season is only looking up, as they prepare to try to lock up the Mid-Suburban West against Hoffman Estates on Friday, Feb 2.
