The Palatine Girls Varsity Basketball went up against Highland Park last Monday at Vernon Hills High School for their last game of the season. The Pirates finished their season 7-23.

“We were very optimistic going into the game,” Coach Mark Johnson said. “Unfortunately, we just couldn’t get it done”.

The Pirates lost 47-63. They had two players on Highland Park who they were worried about stopping. Highland Park Junior, Addie Budnik and Senior, Sydney Ignoffo.

One of the players, Ignoffo, ended up scoring 30 points. The Pirates tried to double team her every time she touched the ball, but it proved to be ineffective. Yet, some players really balled out for Palatine.

Palatine Junior, Juliana Mandarino, went off for 12 points and 6 rebounds which is a career high for her.

“I feel like this seasons was good, I am going to miss the seniors who are graduating,” Palatine sophomore Kayla Miotk said. “We also feel that we are going to be back stronger next season.”

The Palatine varsity girls basketball team is very confident going into next season. They are moving on from this season and looking onward to see what is in store for their upcoming seasons.
