After a tight first half, the Pirates came out on top last night against the Knights. With promising plays by Cornelius, Nudstatter, and Orlando; once Palatine got running with the ball, the Knights couldn’t catch up.

The Pirates scored quickly in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown by Cornelius, but the extra point was no good. The Knights came back with a touchdown of their own and a good extra point, 6-7 Knights. It seemed as if neither team could gain anything against the other, but finally Palatine figured out the Knights’ weaknesses. In the second quarter, Palatine’s Orlando made two successive rushing touchdowns, with the second coming after an 80 yard run. The score was then 20-7 Pirates.

After halftime, Palatine started with a pick six by Senner; then a touchdown by Serio. The Pirates were making great plays and their offense was practically unstoppable. Prospect’s Saurez ran the ball in for a Knight touchdown, the Knights still trailed by 13, 27-14 Pirates. Running back Neustadter came back with another Pirate touchdown. With 6 minutes left in the 4th, Palatine lead 33-14. The Knights tried for a final push and completed another touchdown on 4th and 6 but then failed on the two point conversion. Palatine ran out the clock and then celebrated their win.

Both teams made a valiant effort, but in the end Palatine’s momentum was unstoppable. The final score was 33-20 Palatine. The Pirates are now 2-2, and Prospect is 0-4. Next week’s game the Pirates will be at Conant, kick off at 7:30.
