With Governor Pritzker’s stay at home order, Palatine students have been staying busy and active from their homes. Unable to meet with friends or travel far from their homes, students have thought of creative ways to keep busy.

Many students have spent their time watching movies and TV shows from streaming services such as Netflix and Disney +.

For the past few weeks, I have been watching a lot of tv shows on Netflix like The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, and All American,” Palatine Sophomore Kali Drufke said.

“I’ve been baking cookies and watching a lot of New Girl on Netflix,” Palatine student Kelly Beach said.

Students have also been taking advantage of this free time to exercise. With most gyms closed and sporting events cancelled, students must stay active on their own.

“So during quarantine I have been trying to exercise more because since sports and gym class are cancelled, I want to stay in shape even though I am sitting at home every day,” Brielle Patel said.

“I’ve watched all of the Star Wars movies with my family and have been running and working out when the weather is nice,” Coralyn Johnson said.

Some students have been spending more time with the family that they are quarantined with.

“I’ve been playing a lot of Settlers of Catan with my family, and watching movies together,” Rutvi Parikh said.

“My family and I are also working on sewing masks for nurses in hospitals,” Johnson said.

“Other than reading a few books I have been mostly just doing little things around the house; baking more and organizing the closet that has been a mess forever,” Melanie Reidel said. “I have been sleeping a lot more than usual so I am finally not as tired but it feels weird to be so out of a schedule that I really don’t have any new goals or anything.”
