This past Saturday PHS held its annual Fall Craft Fair drawing massive crowds of community members, students and parents. The fair has been happening each year for over 20 years.
The craft fair ran from 9AM – 4PM and was presented by the Palatine High School Boosters. The Boosters is a parent run organization that aims to help support student programs and services at PHS by fundraising, volunteering and awarding scholarships to graduating seniors.
“It helps raise money towards the amount that this parent body donates back to PHS for clubs, sports and teachers for grants,” said Shelli Sarg, a member of the PHS booster club when asked about what the craft fair helps raise money for.
Both parking and admission were free, making the craft fair accessible to a multitude of people.
Additionally, the event spanned almost the entire first level of Palatine High School. Multiple hallways, the cafeteria, the main gym and the East gym were designated spots for vendors to set up shop.
“We worked for 4 months in planning this event from the vendors down to the volunteers and suppliers needed,” said Sarg.
There were over 140 vendors at the craft fair. Some of the items being sold included clothing, jewelry, home decor, honey, spices, pet products, skincare, crocheted goods.

Even some students who attend PHS had their very own vendor booth. One that stood out in particular was Lexi Turner’s crocheted items from her very own shop, Loops With Lexi. Turner had the cutest crocheted goods for sale including octopuses, axolotls, chickens, bees, dinosaurs, turtles and of course, candy canes just in time for the start of the holiday season.
All that shopping must make someone hungry. Good news is the PHS Music Department has got them covered!
The PHS Music Department sold a variety of different food and drink options at the concession stand right outside of the main gym. They had everything from pizza, to candy, to soda.
Also, the PHS Orchestra had an amazing bake sale in the main hallway. They sold lots of sweet treats like cupcakes, rice crispy treats, cookies, brownies and more. Needless to say, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Additionally, PHS students could be seen all around the craft fair volunteering. They did a great job of bringing smiles to everyone’s faces and welcoming them into their school.
The fun doesn’t stop though! The craft fair had an enticing scavenger hunt type event for people to complete while they shop. Everyone got a paper slip upon entering with the word “CRAFTS” at the bottom and a coupon to enter into the treasure chest raffle box located in the East gym.
All around the school different tables were marked with a different letter, prompting individuals to approach the table to get their paper stamped or hole punched. Once they got all the letters in “CRAFTS” marked off, they could then turn the paper in to enter to win a Target gift card.
All in all, the Fall Craft Fair was the perfect Saturday event for anyone looking to spend some money, try delicious food or even just hang out with friends.
