Anika Tsau, Opinions Editor
Anika Tsau is a junior at Palatine High School. She’s very involved in the school’s activities, such as the school’s math team and trivia team. She’s also a drum major in Palatine’s marching band. Tsau loves music, and enjoys writing songs and cranking up the volume to music in her car. Some of her favorite artists include Taylor Swift, Peach Pit, and Sammy Rae. In her free time, Tsau enjoys watching movies, reading books, and is in a band with some of her friends. She’s interested in going into a field involving engineering or biochemistry.
Allison Ramirez, Reporter
Allison Ramirez is a freshman at Palatine High School and is involved in Cutlass, Fashion club, OLAS, ASL, Yearbook and soccer. They enjoy drawing in sketchbooks, especially painting with acrylic paint in them. Designing digitally on the computer is also one of her strengths. It takes a lot of inspiration and ideas to gather the thoughts for their final piece. Utilizing an imaginative mind, Allison strives to continue this art passion later in life as a graphic designer.
Karim Melek, News Editor
Karim is a sophomore at Palatine High School and along with being the News editor at Cutlass, Melek is involved in many activities such as Water Polo, Debate, and Model UN. Melek enjoys traveling and was a part of the 2023 German Exchange trip. His favorite hobbies include playing video games, reading about history, and spending time with friends and family. Melek is also an avid coin collector. He hopes to study international relations and political science in the future.
Tanya Gerdzhev, Opinions Editor
Tanya Gerdzhev is a senior at Palatine High School. She joined PHS Cutlass last year to expand her writing skills and write quality stories for people to read. Gerdzhev is part of the PHS marching band, senior class, National Honor Society, the musical, foreign exchange, and plans to join wellness club as well. Gerdzhev listens to a variety of musical artists like Metallica, ABBA, and The Backseat Lovers. She hopes to pursue a career in finance, but her dream job is to act or to write books. Gerdzhev plans to apply to UIUC and the National University of Ireland. In her free time, she likes to hang out with friends, watch movies, and read books.

Alessandra Mireles is a sophomore at Palatine High School. She is a reporter for PHS Cutlass and involved with the Mariachi and CAD Drafting club. She has a love for biology and hopes to become a biology major in the future at Chicago University. She has two siblings, a younger brother and older sister, and two pigeons. She loves to read books and comics in her free time outside of school
