The top movies coming out in 2025

The year 2024 brought in many major movies like Wicked, Dune 2, Inside Out 2, and more. But you may want to mark your calendars for these eight movies that will be released in 2025.
Director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Scooby-Doo live action movies, James Gunn is set to release his newest film to kick off the new DCEU (DC Extended Universe) with this new movie. Superman has had many movie adaptations, but not with much success. The trailer for this movie was released in December and received a lot of praise and excitement from the media. The movie is set to be released on July 11.
I am looking forward to getting a first impression on James Gunn’s DCEU. I have a pretty good feeling about this movie based off of the trailer.
The beloved video game Minecraft is finally getting a movie. After years of speculation and rewrites the movie is set to come out on April 4. When the trailer first came out, it faced very mixed reviews as Jack Black’s line “I am Steve” became a viral meme. Despite the mixed reviews, it is still believed to become one of the highest grossing movies this year, with many fans of the game more excited than ever.
I personally feel like it is going to be corny, but I bet it will at least be entertaining. At the end of the day it is meant for kids.

Just months ago, Cynthia Ervio (as Elphaba) and famous singer Ariana Grande (as Glinda) blew up box offices with an 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 95 percent from the audience in Wicked. Songs such as “Popular” and “Defying Gravity” blew up over the internet and radio stations. Expect to see more of that as the second part is set to hit this November with the same cast and new songs!
I have not seen the first one, but I have family members who swear by it. I’ve heard some of the songs from the first one, and I expect more great songs.
One of the most famous names in Hollywood for the last couple decades, Tom Cruise, is set to star in the eighth and supposedly final Mission Impossible movie. The first movie came out 19 years ago in 1996, meaning this will be an end to a legendary almost two-decade-long movie run. Expect to see an entertaining and nail-biting end to this movie series.
These movies are always fun to watch and I am excited to see how they end this series.
The How to Train Your Dragon trilogy is beloved by many due to its compelling and emotional storyline and stunning animation. With the success of the animated movies, a live-action version is set to be released this summer. The movie is going to be very faithful to the original and be nearly a shot-to-shot remake. The trailer has shown some of the stunning visuals that will be in the movies.
The trailer made me really want to watch the movie. I am most excited too see the visuals and if it really is fully accurate to the original.
The MCU is set to release its first Fantastic Four movie, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn. Marvel is hoping to make a comeback with this movie after several recent flops, such as “Ant-Man Quantamania” and “The Marvels.” The movie is set to take place in the 1960s, giving it a fun nostalgic feel. The villain is set to be The Devourer of Worlds, Galactus, one of the biggest villains in Marvel comics.
Recently I have not cared for Marvel movies, but I am very excited to see this. Galactus should be an entertaining villain and I’m excited to see if any other villains show up such as Doctor Doom. I like how it is not an origin story and will just get straight to the plot.

One of the most famous movies Avatar finally got its sequel after 13 years in 2022. Now, three years later, the third movie is set to release. James Cameron will direct the movie again, which means there will once again be stunning visuals. The movie isn’t coming out until the end of the year, on Dec. 19.
I am very intrigued to see how this story will continue. I am also very excited too see how the visuals compare to the other two.
The Karate Kid franchise may be bigger than ever right now, as the spin-off show Cobra Kai is beloved by many. Ralph Machio (as Daniel LaRusso) is set to team up with Jackie Chan (as Mr. Han), as they will be training Ben Wang (as Li Fong). This movie will not have any new characters from the Cobra Kai show
I have watched “Cobra Kai” and the first two “Karate Kid” movies, so I am excited to see how they develop these characters and if anyone else will return. I am specifically excited to see the continuation of Daniel’s character arc.
